The Western PA Shop Hop was first held in 2001. It has grown in scope each year, becoming the premier event it is today. The goal of our website is to share up to the minute information about the event in this new format.
The Western PA Shop Hop passport is included in a wonderful booklet that contains general information about each shop, maps and even patterns. Passports for the 2009 Hop go on sale April 1st. Once again passports are only $5.00.
Thank you to those of you who have been part of our past Western PA Shop Hops. For those of you who are new, a bit of explanation is in order. Our Hop is a chance to visit thirteen shops within a 50-mile radius of Pittsburgh during the middle of June. (visit our Google Map of all the shop hop Each unique stop will present their take on our 2009 Hop theme of “Movie Mania”. At each of the shops you will be treated to special displays, a step in our progressive quilt (It’s Showtime – a pieced sampler), a goodie bag and door prize drawings. If you travel to all of the shops, and have your passport validated along the way, your name will also be included in the grand prize drawings.
The event will be a most charming affair again this year. At each of the stops you will receive four charm squares and eight additional charm squares if you spend $25.00 or more in that shop. You will have enough black and white charms after your journey to make something fun – a tote bag, small quilt or even the sashing of this years progressive quilt.

Each year we share a block in an original quilt at each of the Hop stops. This year the block names will reflect the movie theme being shared at each shop. While we all work with the same series of pieced block patterns, our quilts are very different. This year we will offer three bonus blocks here on the web site. One new 10” block pattern will be added each month right up until “Showtime”.
